If you have more than one prefix, its important to make sure the correct licence is selected in Barcode Manager before you can add new products or review existing ones.
When you first log into Barcode Manager, you can check which prefix is active in the Active Prefix box at the bottom of the column on the left side of the page.
Changing your Active Prefix
To change your prefix, go to the Global Company Prefixes and GTIN Ranges box on the Dashboard. Here you will see information about your current prefixes and what actions you can take with them.
When you want to change your prefix, click the Actions button to the right of the prefix and this will give you a drop-down menu of options for the prefix.
There are 5 options available –
- Enter a new product in selected range – this option will change the Active Prefix and take you to the Add Product page to enter a new item.
- Set selected range as active and go to My Products – this option will change the Active Prefix and take you to the My Products page.
- Set starting GTIN in selected range manually – this option does not change the Active Prefix but allows you to set the starting GTIN manually for the range. This is not recommended as all GTINs should be assigned sequentially.
- Set starting GTIN to first available number – this option does not change the Active Prefix but sets the starting GTIN to the next available number in sequence.
- Export available GTINs in this range – this option does not change the Active Prefix but does export a file of all unused GTINs in the range.
To change the Active Prefix, you will select either of the first 2 options depending on what actions you want to take and if the prefix has been exhausted or not.
