Why don’t I have access to Barcode Manager?

Barcode Manager is a free-to-use tool for all GS1 Ireland members to create barcode numbers and manage their product data, but not all members currently have access.

You have a prefix that pre-dates Barcode Manager

Barcode Manager became available to members in 2015 and all accounts created after that were automatically given access to the system.

If your barcode licence was issued prior to 2015 access to your account is restricted until your existing barcode records are uploaded. Creating new products in Barcode Manager without your legacy data being uploaded could result in barcode numbers being duplicated or reused.

You have never used Barcode Manager

If you purchased your licence after 2015, there are 2 reasons you may not currently have access to Barcode Manager - 

  1. Your GS1 account predates Barcode Manager and you have other licences issued pre 2015. Even though youmay have purchased a new licence after 2015, you may still not have access to Barcode Manager if you have multiple licences that pre-date its existence. We are happy to help you get up and running with Barcode Manager for your new licences.
  2. You have a new account since 2015 but have not logged into Barcode Manager or have never added product data to the system. In this case our team has restricted access to ensure products and GTINs aren't duplicated in error as product data and GTIN assignment has been managed outside of Barcode Manager.

Get setup on Barcode Manager

Regardless of the reasons you don't currently have access, if you would like to get setup we are happy to help.

Most licences and accounts qualify to use Barcode Manager and our Helpdesk team can walk you through the required steps.

Please note - you will need your existing barcode records in order to complete the Upload File to get access to Barcode Manager.

You had access to Barcode Manager before
