The Check Digit Calculator is a tool used to create GTINs when you don't have access to barcoding software or Barcode Manager.
When creating your barcode numbers, you will need to use the Check Digit Calculator to find the final digit of your number.
If you need a refresher on how to create barcode numbers, our article "How do I create a barcode number?" can guide you through the process.
The Check Digit Calculator is accessible to all members and does not require a login to use.
When you are on the Check Digit Calculator webpage, simply enter the first 12-digits for consumer units into the GTIN 13 field or the first 13-digits for outer cases into the GTIN 14 field. Click calculate. The complete number will then populate in the box on the right hand side.
If you need to create an 18-digit SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) you can use the Check Digit Calculator to find the final digit as well by entering the starting 17 digits.
The Check Digit Calculator does not keep track of the numbers calculated and you will need to keep a record of them yourself, along with the details of the product the GTIN is assigned to.
If you are interested in using Barcode Manager to create and safely store your GTINs please contact our Helpdesk for on-boarding information.
