After you've linked the Picture It! App to your Barcode Manager account, you can start taking photos of your products.
If you haven't set up the GS1 Picture It! app you will need to do that before you get started.
When you open the app, you will see a screen showing your Barcode Manager username. When you're ready to start taking photos of your products, click the button at the bottom of the screen that says "Scan product barcode".
Clicking the button will bring up a new screen where you will need to scan the barcode of your product. This is required as the barcode number is needed to make sure the photos are linked to the correct product in Barcode Manager.
After you scan the barcode, you can start taking photos of your product. The first photo you will be asked to take is a picture of the front of your product. When you are ready, click the button at the bottom of the screen.
The camera will then open and you can take a photo of the front of the product. If you need more light, you can use the integrated flashlight button in the lower right. You can also open an existing photo of the product using the picture button in the lower left.
Line up your product within the four corners shown on the screen and press the circle in the bottom middle to take the picture.
After you've taken the photo, the editing screen will come up. Here you can remove the background, crop and edit, and adjust the brightness and contrast.
When you remove the background of the photo, your product will be shown in a black field.
Tip - For the best results when removing the background, take a photo of your product in front of a plain contrasting backdrop, or with as few other elements as possible.
When you're happy with the photo, click the red button at the bottom to take a picture with the barcode. You will first need to scan the barcode and then when the barcode symbol on the camera has turned green, take a photo of the side of the product that the barcode is printed on.
When you are happy with that picture, click the red circle to view the photos you have taken. You can then take pictures of the other sides as shown below.
When you have taken all the photos you want and are ready to upload them to Barcode Manager, click Send Pictures at the bottom of the screen.
This will then upload the photos to Barcode Manager and link them to the correct product.
Warning - If the barcode number on your product is not part of your licenced prefixes or isn't available on Barcode Manager, your photos will not upload to the platform.
To review the photos you've uploaded, log into Barcode Manager, go to View Products and then click on the item you added the pictures to. Click the Picture tab from the available options and you will see all of the photos that were uploaded.
From here you can choose which photos you would like to Approve and which you want to Delete. Approving a photo will use 1 Picture It! credit per photo. You can set 1 of your approved pictures as the Primary Image and this will be shared with the Global Registry and be visible through the Verified by GS1 service.
Warning - Any photos you delete will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered as the app does not save any data.
