How do I create a symbol in Barcode Manager?

You've added a product but now you need to create the symbol for your packaging. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to create and download your symbol (*Paid-for symbol credits required.)

Before you can create a barcode symbol in Barcode Manager, the first thing you need to do is make sure you have Symbol Credits. To see your current Symbol Credit balance, go to the Dashboard and look at the Account Summary box in the top middle.

If you don't have any credits, you can purchase them by clicking the Buy Credits link on the right side of the box banner. You can find more information about purchasing Symbol Credits.

After you've purchased the Symbol Credits, you are ready to create the symbol using the following steps.

Symbol credits paid for by credit card are immediately added to your account the next time you log in to Barcode Manager.

Steps:

1. Click the dark blue "View products" button on the Dashboard.
   
2. Click the name of the product you want to create the symbol for from the list of available products.
3. Click the "Barcode tab" at the top of the page under Edit product.
   
4. On the Symbols page you should see either an EAN-13 barcode symbol (Base Units or Packs/Multipacks) or an ITF-14 barcode symbol (Cases and Display Units) with a red line through it, as well as a blue "Create" barcode button. Click the button and the system will use a credit to create your barcode symbol.
   
5. After you create the symbol, you will be allowed to download the image in the file type and size required by your graphic designer or by whomever is printing the label or packaging for you.
